The Antiques Glossary from RSA Antiquitäten Wiesbaden provides an art-historical overview of significant artists, designers, architects and manufacturers of the Art Deco period and the early 20th century. The focus is particularly on those designers and workshops that had a decisive influence on French and international design history, spanning Art Nouveau, Art Deco and Modernism.
Art Deco developed primarily in France during the 1910s and 1920s and reached its international peak with the Exposition internationale des Arts Décoratifs et industriels modernes in Paris in 1925. Fine materials, craftsmanship of the highest order, clear geometric forms and a fusion of luxury, architecture and modern design characterise this era.
