Art Deco-Style Desk

Semicircular design.

Faithful reproduction of an Art Deco desk, commissioned by a client in 2016.

The desk has four drawers on each side, giving a total of eight drawers.

A desk made in the Art Deco style

This desk offers an opportunity to compare a modern reproduction with an original Art Deco piece. Its broad, curved top and strongly striped veneer give it an imposing presence. The arrangement of the Macassar ebony emphasises the desk’s symmetry, while the polished surface brings out the contrast between dark and warm brown tones.

The desk’s date is known from its commission in 2016. When assessing the age of another piece, construction, veneer, fittings and signs of use should be considered together. The wood grain alone cannot reliably establish when a desk was made. I would be pleased to show you these details in person.
