Pair of vases “Digitales”

The digitalis plant, also known as foxglove, is a perennial plant native to Europe and parts of Asia. It is known for its tall stalks, topped with bell-shaped flowers in various colors, including pink, white, yellow, purple, and red.

The digitalis plant contains the toxin digitalin, which can be lethal in high doses. Nevertheless, it is often grown in gardens as an ornamental plant because of its beautiful blooms. In addition, digitalis is used in medicine, particularly in the treatment of heart failure and some cardiac arrhythmias.

Schneider was a French glass factory that became famous during the Art Deco era. The company was founded in 1917 by Charles Schneider and mainly produced art glassware such as vases, bowls, and lamps.

Schneider’s style was known for its clean lines, geometric shapes, and vibrant colors. They used a variety of techniques to create their artworks, including etching, engraving, grinding, and decoration with enamel and gold.

During its heyday, the Schneider glass factory produced many iconic pieces, including the famous “Le Verre Français” vases, known for their bright colors and fine details. The company continued to produce art glassware until the 1930s, when it had to stop its production during World War II.

Today, Schneider Art Deco glass pieces are highly sought after by collectors and are displayed in museums and private collections around the world.
