Modernist Ceiling Lamp
“Stream Line” Modernist Ceiling Lamp (France, c. 1940)
This exquisite modernist ceiling lamp bears the fitting model name “Stream Line.” Originating in France, the piece dates back to around 1940, a time when design was elegantly transitioning toward a functionalist style. The design relies on clean geometric forms, while dynamic lines define its overall appearance.
The lamp features a well-conceived and striking architectural structure. A fluted rod serves as a sturdy central suspension, while gleaming chrome-plated metal rings form the distinctive body of the fixture. A round glass plate perfectly captures the light at the center, and a satin-finished glass pane forms the base. This curved pane is an original component, ensuring a pleasant, glare-free distribution of light.
This rare collector’s item has recently undergone extensive restoration. A specialist firm completely re-chromed all metal surfaces, and an electrician replaced the entire wiring system, ensuring the lamp meets all modern safety standards. Its timeless aesthetic instantly enhances any upscale living space.
The ceiling lamp complements both historic and modern interiors beautifully, captivating the eye with the interplay of glass and polished chrome. In short, you are acquiring a first-rate example of European design history—a piece that makes a bold statement in any room.
Another lighting piece available is this “Noverdy” Art Deco ceiling lamp.
