Elegant French Art Deco Figural Lamp by Fayral (Pierre Le Faguays)

This exceptional French Art Deco figural lamp was created by the renowned French sculptor Pierre Le Faguays (1892–1962), who signed many of his works under the pseudonym Fayral. The sculpture bears the impressed signature “Fayral” as well as the stamp of the prestigious Parisian foundry Le Verrier, confirming its distinguished provenance and high-quality craftsmanship.

The graceful female figure embodies the elegance and modernity of the French Art Deco movement. Her slender pose, harmonious proportions and beautifully rendered drapery combine classical beauty with the refined, streamlined aesthetic of the 1920s and 1930s.

Particularly striking is the sophisticated contrast of the patinated surfaces. The dark brown bronze harmonizes beautifully with the green-patinated drapery, while the vivid red glass shade provides a striking accent. The stepped black stone base adds further elegance and gives the sculpture a strong and stable presence.

This exceptional lamp combines sculpture, design and functionality at the highest level. Original figural lamps by Fayral are highly sought-after collector’s pieces and represent the exceptional artistic quality of French Art Deco.

Art Historical Background

The French sculptor Pierre Le Faguays is regarded as one of the important representatives of French Art Deco sculpture. Following his artistic education at the École des Beaux-Arts in Geneva and Paris, he developed a distinctive style characterized by elegant female figures, dynamic movement and carefully balanced proportions.

For many of his decorative bronze sculptures, Le Faguays used the pseudonym Fayral. Numerous models were cast by the renowned Parisian foundry of Max Le Verrier. This collaboration resulted in some of the most recognizable examples of French Art Deco sculpture and remains closely associated with exceptional craftsmanship.

Figural lamps of this type were among the luxurious decorative furnishings of sophisticated private residences during the 1920s and 1930s. They combined sculpture, interior design and illumination in a way that perfectly expressed the glamour, modernity and elegance of the Art Deco period.

Today, original Fayral sculptures bearing the Le Verrier foundry mark are internationally recognized and highly valued by collectors. They rank among the most desirable works of French Art Deco sculpture and decorative art.
