Bergère Art Déco
The described “Bergère Art Déco” is an armchair in the Art Déco style, which was manufactured in France between 1925 and 1928. This chair is made of beech wood and has a cherry stain that gives it a reddish-brown color. Four fluted legs are tapered and typical of the Art Déco style.
This chair has been newly upholstered and covered with a black and gold patterned fabric. The use of bold patterns and colors is a characteristic feature of the Art Déco style. The newly covered fabric gives the chair a contemporary look and complements the original design.
“Bergère” refers to an armchair often found in French furniture design. The style is derived from the French word “berger,” which means “shepherd.” These types of chairs were traditionally used by shepherds in France.
As an antique furniture piece in good condition from a well-known design period, it can have a high value today. Art Déco furniture is highly sought after by collectors and design enthusiasts, and the market for these pieces is often very active.
In addition to this very elegant Bergère, there is also a round side stool.
