Art Deco ceiling lamp by Degue

This beautiful Art Deco ceiling lamp by Degue is made in France around 1930. Hexagonal nickel-plated ceiling suspension with six glass cylinders decorated with roses and a chased end.

Degué Lamp Manufacturer was a French designer and maker of lamps and lighting fixtures who was prominent in the 1920s and 1930s. He was a significant representative of Art Deco ceiling lamps ,
and his works are still highly sought after today.

Degué was born in France in 1892 and received training as an artistic glass blower. In 1912, he opened his own glassworks and began designing and producing lamps and other decorative items from glass.

During the 1920s, Degué developed a new technique for shaping and coloring glass, which enabled him to create unique and colorful designs. He combined this technique with new materials such as metal and marble to design lamps and lighting fixtures that embodied the essence of Art Deco.

Degué’s lamps and lighting fixtures were of great quality and were appreciated by some of the most famous French interior designers and decorators of the time. His works were also exhibited at international exhibitions and received numerous awards.

In the 1930s, Degué began to experiment with other materials such as enamel and ceramics, expanding his range of decorative items. His company flourished until the outbreak of World War II, which affected his production and eventually led to the closure of his company.

Despite the brief duration of his career as a lamp manufacturer, Degué has taken an important place in the history of Art Deco, and his works are highly valued by collectors and museums around the world.
