Origin: The so-called Portoro marble (often shortened to “Porto marble”) comes from Portovenere on the Gulf of La Spezia, Liguria (northwest Italy). Historically, the finest blocks were/are quarried on the island of Palmaria and near Tino/Tinetto, opposite Portovenere.

Other names: Portoro marble, Portovenere marble – not to be confused with Porto in Portugal.
