The Japanese Art Deco style is a design movement that emerged in Japan during the 1920s and 1930s. It is a fusion of Western Art Deco elements and traditional Japanese designs, and the wall mural “Lady in Red” beautifully showcases this style.
The style is characterized by its decorative elements and the use of colors such as red, gold, and black. Symmetrical patterns based on Japanese designs, such as flowers, clouds, and water, are often used.
An example of this style is the building of the Tokyo Stock Exchange, which was built in 1931. It has a clear and simple facade adorned with decorative details such as gilded ornaments and a relief of a Japanese phoenix.
Other famous examples of Japanese Art Deco style include Yamada Yuzo’s greeting cards that became popular in the 1920s and the Grand Prince Hotel Takanawa in Tokyo, which was built in 1929.
