The Art Deco movement, which emerged in the 1920s and 1930s, was renowned for its elegant and stylish designs characterized by sharp lines, geometric shapes, and opulent embellishments. Wall sconces in the Art Deco style were no exception, representing the distinctive features of this artistic movement.

Indirect lighting with wall lamps

Art Deco wall lamps 1930 were typically crafted from brass or other metallic materials. Like our pair of Art Deco wall lampshade this metallic glossy surface. They were frequently adorned with embellishments such as gemstones, crystals, enamel, or colored glass arranged in geometric patterns. Another common feature of Art Deco lights was abstract shapes. Waves or arches, conveying a sense of movement and dynamism.

The wall lamp is noted for its indirect lighting, contributing to the creation of a warm and inviting atmosphere. They were often paired with opaque or frosted glass shades that diffused the light, producing a soft and even illumination.

The right light

In general, Art Deco wall lamps were not only functional but also aesthetically appealing. Representing an era of modern art and design. Today, they remain highly popular and are often utilized as vintage pieces in modern living spaces, adding a touch of nostalgia and elegance.

A couple of wall sconces like these should beautifully illuminate another artwork, like this Wall relief “Ballets Russes” or another pair of Pair of Art Deco wall lamps.
