Miklos Nemeth “Citylife”

Miklós Németh (1926-2012) was a Hungarian painter known for his realistic still lifes. He was born in Budapest and studied at the Hungarian Academy of Fine Arts. After graduating, he worked as an illustrator before devoting himself entirely to painting.
Németh’s works are characterized by a meticulous attention to detail and a subtle use of light and shadow. He mainly painted still lifes and landscapes, preferring a realistic depiction of everyday objects such as fruit, vegetables, crockery and flowers.

His painting technique was characterized by a careful layering of colors and a special attention to the representation of textures and reflections. Often described as timeless and classic, his works are treasured by collectors and art lovers around the world.
Németh has received numerous awards and his works have been presented in many solo and group exhibitions in Hungary and abroad. He is considered one of the most important Hungarian painters of the 20th century.
One of his most famous works is the still life Pumpkin and Crystal, which he painted in 1962. The painting shows a pumpkin standing on a table in front of a crystal glass. The lustrous surfaces of the gourd and glass reflect the light in a way that highlights the attention to detail of Németh’s painting technique.
Németh’s still lifes are often simple arrangements of everyday objects, such as fruit, vegetables and crockery, but he gives them a remarkable beauty and sophistication through his painting technique. Often described as timeless and classic, his works are treasured by collectors and art lovers around the world.
