Small bouillotte lamps

Bouillotte lamps are small table lamps that originated in France in the 18th century. Originally, they were used as a heat source for the French card game “Bouillotte”, popular among the French aristocracy at the time.
The game required players to hold their cards and chips, so the lamps were designed to provide both heat and light, keeping players hands free.

Bouillotte lamps typically have a round or oval base, a central columnar stand and one or more arms extending from the stand and supporting the lamp socket

The lamps are usually made of brass, and the shades are usually made of metal or fabric.

Nowadays Bouillotte lamps are mainly used as decorative elements instead of functional heating sources. Popular in traditional and classic interior styles, they can add a touch of elegance and sophistication to any room.
